Woodlands | Rocky Mountains

Reimagining a familiar architectural style is a challenge, especially one rooted in collective memory. At Woodlands, we didn’t reinvent for novelty’s sake. Instead, we reinterpreted the classic lodge through the lens of modern family living and sustainable design. Nestled in a serene valley, the home responds to its lakeside setting with quiet confidence.

The front façade pays homage to “parkitecture,” anchored by an angled stone wall. In contrast, the back façade opens entirely to the landscape. A timber pergola spans the length of the home, seamlessly extending the living space outdoors. The landscape, designed by Design Workshop, further blurs the line between interior and exterior.

Inside, a traditional layout replaces the typical open concept, allowing the home to unfold room by room. Organized around a central axis, the entry leads the eye through a double-height living room to the lake beyond.

“The Great Room is one of my favorites,” says Partner and Senior Associate Steve Harris. “The timber trusses, fireplace, and glass wall work together to anchor the space.”
